How the numbers are built.

WealthData is built on the UBS / Credit Suisse Global Wealth Databook, the most comprehensive public data source on household wealth. The Databook covers roughly 170 countries and reconstructs wealth per adult, total wealth, and the distribution across bands from 2000 to the latest release.

Our preview release imports a curated slice of the Databook — a representative set of markets across all major regions and years 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2023 — to validate the interface. Full 170-country, all-year coverage is next.

Wealth figures are reported per adult, in current USD, using end-of-year exchange rates. "Millionaires" refers to adults with net wealth above USD 1M including primary residence, consistent with the Databook definition. The Gini coefficient measures the concentration of wealth (0 = perfect equality, 1 = maximum concentration).

Lorenz curves are the cumulative share of wealth held by the poorest x% of adults. Points below the 45° diagonal indicate inequality; the further the curve, the more concentrated the distribution.

We do not model or forecast. We report the Databook as published, with the interface and interactivity that a PDF cannot provide. Each figure links back to its source year and edition.
